"Fostering Convergence Talents in Applied Policing & Innovative Technology"
The Department of Applied Policing & Innovative Technology consists of 4 majors : Forensic Science, Data Science, Cybercrime Investigation & Cyber Security, and Smart Mobility.
The Department of Applied Policing & Innovative Technology aims to nurture science policing talents to proactively respond to future policing environments such as forensics, big data, virtual environments, and autonomous driving. Centering on future core science and technology, it consists of convergence majors on forensic science, forensic psychology, policing data, cybercrime/security, and future transportation(drone, autonomous driving). We are pursuing practical research on future policing through specialized research and professional education for each major.
Forensic Science Major(natural sciences)
The forensic science course aims to nurture experts in forensic science by applying cutting-edge science and technology to physical evidence at the crime scene to actively respond to various crimes that are evolving day by day. The forensic science course focuses on hands-on experimental classes and research. It consists of theoretical studies and experimental-oriented research courses including forensic chemistry, forensic biology, trace/microscopical analysis, forensic instrumental analysis, forensic toxicology/drug, forensic fire/explosion evidence, and forensic artificial intelligence data construction. It is an experimental/research-oriented specialized course for solving cases such as cause identification and individual identification through science and technology based evidence collection/analysis of crime scenes. In addition, through the operation of R&D education and research programs in the field of public safety science and technology, it is operated as a training course for professional security scientists who can calculate the research results of new technology development and directly apply them to the field.
Forensic Science Major(psychology)
The forensic psychology course aims to cultivate the ability to evaluate the causes of crime through various legal and criminal psychology theories and to suggest countermeasures to crime through psychological methodologies. By learning how to analyze criminal behaviors and criminals based on biological and psychological theories, theories and practices are harmoniously studied and educated.
Data Science Major
The Data Science major is designed to help you learn how to analyze data using various analytical methodologies and tools, build a system to collect and store new data, and make the right decisions for a better world.
Cybercrime Investigation & Cyber Security Major
The Cyber Security major aims for interdisciplinary fusion that encompasses cyber security fields and the criminal justice focusing on cyber crime investigations. The cybersecurity major curriculum will provide students with the opportunity to in-depth research on various timely issues related to recent digital crimes and cybersecurity threats along with the cultivation of practical and competitive academic knowledge. In particular, it is designed to further enhance the academic insight of students in the relevant major through studying cyber criminology, legal issues related to fundamental rights, knowledge about digital crime investigation, cyber security risk assessment, and digital forensics seminars.
Smart Mobility Major
The Smart Mobility major is designed to research technologies and services to accommodate new means of transportation, such as autonomous vehicles, urban air mobility (UAM), drones (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle), eco-friendly vehicles, and personal transportation (PM), to our city. In particular, it discusses laws, systems, and technologies to apply the new means of transportation to our daily lives. We also research measures and technology development to prevent accidents, crimes, and terrorism that may occur due to smart mobility.
